INDONESIA
Good food, better friends, amazing vibes
Indonesia was the first place we were traveling to that we had not been together previously. We had no expectations and few plans, and what was supposed to be a couple of weeks stay turned into a month and a half, including returning to a city visited earlier in our trip, something we didn’t think we would do.It all started in Yogyakarta, a place that quickly became near and dear to our hearts due to the warm and welcoming culture, amazing people we met who quickly became friends, and the stunning landscape and beauty.
We saw such a small slice of the country during our stay (we like to travel slooowww), but what we did see kept us longing for more. Although it’s not on the traditional backpacker route, we would highly recommend you divert your plans to explore this amazing country.
We absolutely loved our time in Bali and used it as a hub to visit other places—Gili Air, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Cennigan. If traveling around Bali there are a few things you should be aware of before you go
Bali is a massive island. There's a lot to see and so much we didn’t have time for. To help you get going, here's a list of our favorite things to do Bali.
A lavish water garden complex with a bunch of pools, ponds and fountains surrounded by perfectly cut lawns, stepping stones, statues and tropical gardens. Umm, yes please.
Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple and one of the greatest most beautiful Buddhist monuments in the world
Undiscovered places are hard to come by on Bali but we found this hidden gem tucked away down a side street in Sukawati.
Hiking Kawah Ijen is a once in a lifetime opportunity you cannot miss.
We thought Devil's Tears was a dramatic name but we learned quickly how appropriate it was.
Hippie, happy, homey and centrally located with easy access to the best of Jogja.
Over the course of 6 weeks in Indonesia we grew to love the food and are still crave the flavors (and the heat) at this very moment.
