Looking to escape the crowds on Bali for New Year Eve we made the decision to jump to Nusa Lembongan.

A speed boat from Sanur will get you to Lembongan in 30 minutes, making it a super easy island hop. As per usual, we waited until the last minute to book accommodation. This was a little concerning given the busy holiday season but we were pleasantly surprised when we found Jingga Villas.

Jingga is a bit more upscale than some of the places we normally stay, but still very affordable, especially for those on holiday.

ACCOMMODATION

As soon as we arrived at Jingga Villas we knew we were in luck.

Jingga is located near Seaweed Farm, in the southern tip of Lembongan, 10 minutes from Dream Beach or Mushroom Bay. There are only six rooms on the property, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, a view of the sea and a beautiful saltwater pool.

Each room has a large porch furnished with a table, chairs and pillows. Perfect for relaxing with a beer to watch the sunset. Inside, you have an extra large king sized bed, air con, coffee and tea with a kettle and a refrigerator. Attached to each room is a big outdoor Balinese style bathroom. The nightly rate includes breakfast every morning, a trip to and from the ferry port, daily housekeeping and turn-down service, which is quite unique for this price point.

There is a restaurant attached to the villas which is run by a woman named Wayan, who's an excellent cook. We were lucky enough to arrive on a day they caught fresh lobster and we had a special Balinese dinner on New Years Eve, all delicious. It’s hard to eat elsewhere on the island when you have Wayan making amazing food right outside your door.

THE VIBE

We were absolutely blown away by the hospitality of this local, family-owned spot.

The owners Ketut and Komang go above and beyond to make sure their guests are happy. Each one of the staff takes the time to learn and remember your name and chat to you about your travels. They are very kind and make sure you are well taken care of and enjoying your stay in Lembongan. We could not have found a better place or group of people to celebrate 2016 with.

For what you get at Jingga Villas, the service, scenery, accommodation and humbleness of the staff make this place an obvious choice when visiting Lembongan.
